A Professional Home Organiser is someone that helps you to overcome clutter and disorganisation to make your life less stressful and your time, more efficient.
A Professional Home Organiser not only helps you organise your things, but they also create easy-to-follow systems to help keep it tidy. They are there to help you through the entire process or to get down and dirty and do everything themselves. They are there to sort, clean, file, de-clutter, and de-stress to help make your home a better place to live. I can also help with Home Staging.
You can do it yourself, but when learning any new skill, everyone benefits from time spent with an advisor. It makes the job easier, faster and more efficient. Because the time is scheduled in your diary, there's less chance that it will slide to the bottom of your priorities. I will also spend time teaching you the tips and tricks to empower you to carry on without me once I've gone, but I am always here to help should you need me in the future.
Men, women, people working full time or part time, people with a disability, stay at home parents, retirees; there is no one type of person who is disorganised. It can happen to any of us. Quite often it is a significant life change that prompts a call. Moving home, having a baby, divorce, downsizing, losing a parent or partner - these are all things that can leave us overwhelmed by our belongings. Working with a professional organiser is good for anyone who needs to regain a semblance of order in their busy life. If you just don't have the time or you can't get it scheduled, having someone to come in and help you with it means you'll get it done
Don't be embarrassed. I am here to help you, not judge you. The hardest bit will be picking up the phone and making that first step towards a more organised home.
EVERYTHING! You will find yourself having more time, less stress, you will know where everything is located (which saves time and huge headaches), and it will make your life easier and, more importantly, happier. Your environment plays a huge part on your attitude, outlook, and even blood pressure levels. When it's in disarray, that will reflect and play an immediate part on your life. It makes life so much simpler when your environment is organised, clean, and it's easy to find things.
I'm based in Essex but travel to London, the Home Counties, and South East England. I'm also able to travel to most other areas of the UK too.
I will declutter and organise anything from your kitchen cupboards, wardrobes, rooms to the 'dreaded' loft and shed. Almost all areas of your home and office are covered including photographs and paperwork.
I will clean shelves and under cupboards where it will assist the decluttering process, but I don't offer a full cleaning service. If this is required I can make suggestions about what companies you could use.
I charge an hourly rate of £40 or £45/£50 at weekends. I normally work around 4 - 6 hours a session depending on what is required. The reason behind the 3 minimum hours is that more is noticeably achieved. Some people however find due to their circumstances that little and often works better for them so depending on your location this can also be an option.
There are numerous financial benefits to my service
- Being able to find everything you need in the home, preventing the unnecessary purchase of duplicate items in the future.
- Finding things to sell.
- Paperwork organisation very often results in a reduction in bills in the form of no more missed payments, recognising unwanted direct debits to cancel. I can also help you to organise your budget and research better prices for things such as insurance, etc.
- Some clients go on to make money renting out spare rooms that they have cleared, generating a monthly income for them
- You may find priceless sentimental items during the decluttering sessions.
Decluttering and organising can also bring a much clearer perspective on where money has been wasted. Many clients report that their overall spending drops after their decluttering sessions as they have a clearer understanding of what they value and what they really need.
Ultimately, the benefits of being organised, feeling less stressed and being in control of your environment again are priceless. Many of my clients find that having their home more organised means that other aspects of their life are enhanced and they can move forward with their long terms plans once their previously disorganised home is no longer holding them back.
No! This is a huge fear for many people hiring a professional organiser. Things that are necessary or important to you will be incorporated into the organising plan. The goal is to make your life run more smoothly by creating an organisational system that fits around your life.
Any items that you choose to get rid of will be recycled wherever possible using local charity shops and your local recycling centre etc. You may have things you can sell and I can advise you how to do this yourself. I am not able to take stuff to the tip for you due to Waste Carrier legislation but can take items to the Charity Shop and will assist you to dispose of things on the day we declutter them.
Today, technology means we actually need to keep very little but a paperwork sort out is all about keeping you within your comfort zone too. If you have historically kept 20 years of bank statements, you may feel nervous about offloading them all at once so I can work with you to determine a system that makes you feel secure and stored for the correct length of time.
Simply contact me jacquie@thedeclutterconsultant.co.uk T 07985 295976 or via Facebook and tell me what needs to be addressed, what rooms/areas you'd like organised, and any other details you'd like to include. I will then get back with you and we can set up a time for our initial meeting.
I can either come to your address, do a virtual consultation, have you send photos/video of the area(s) or a chat on the phone . I then evaluate the space(s) and discuss what problems you have with it, what you would like to see change, and what is currently working for you, we then formulate a plan of action.
I'm here to work with you and your schedule.
An open mind and uninterrupted time to work together. By working together to organise your space, we'll create a system that specifically meets your needs. This will also help you keep on top of things, since it will fit in with your daily routines and habits, oh yes and the occasional cup of tea/coffee ;-)
It's entirely up to you. If you don't want to touch a thing, you don't have to, but if you do it'll get the job done faster, and in the end, save you money.
Instead of me coming to your house in person to help you declutter and organise, you can have one to one coaching and guidance calls with me over Skype, Facetime/whatsapp etc or phone.
These are appointments where clients feel they can do the work themselves but need direction and homework until the next appointment. It's not for everyone and it can be a slower approach but it still gets the job done, which is the important thing.
Also with the current Covid19 situation it lessens the worry about having someone in your house that is not part of your 'bubble'.
Absolutely. I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissions Officer), and you can rest assured that all your details, all meetings, conversations, and questions are between you and I, and no one else. Some people are quite happy to tell friends and family about their decluttering projects, especially afterwards because they feel so uplifted and proud of their home. Others prefer to keep things private. The Declutter Consultant is a completely private and confidential service. There are no advertising logos my car or uniform and I would never discuss clients with a third party unless agreed. Occasionally I may ask if I can take before and after photographs but this is entirely your choice.
That's fine! There is a minimum of 3 hours for each project. The reason behind the 3 minimum hours is that more is noticeably achieved. Some people however find due to their circumstances that little and often works better for them so depending on your location this can also be an option but this would need to be discussed at the consultation. Obviously these hours are different when it comes to Virtual decluttering sessions.
I accept cash, card, cheque, Paypal or BACS. Payment is due at the end of each work session (each day).
I am a member of APDO (Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers)
